The Bullring of Seville is a seasonal one, the second most important of the Spanish bullfighting calendar; but it reaches its maximum splendor with the April  Fair, the great event of the Andalusian capital and of the Maestranza in Seville.

When is the April Fair celebrated?

The dates of the Seville Fair are not fixed but depend on the celebration of Holy Week. According to the municipal ordinance of the City Council of Seville, the Fair begins the third week after Holy Week, unless it coincides entirely with the month of May, in which case it starts a week before.

The ‘alumbrao’ (switch on) of the big front of the Fair gives the starting signal, on Sunday at 00:00 hours.

The April Fair in Seville 2024

A very special April fair, due to the current situation of COVID 19 and maintaining all the sanitary measures, the fair will be developed as follows. The annual Seville's bullfighting events will take place from April 18 to September 19 and will consist of 14 bullfights: 11 bullfights, one bullfight with bullfighters and 2 bullfights with picadors.

Why is the most important Fair of Andalusia?

Andalusia is the community that celebrates more fairs but, without a doubt, the one of its capital is the most important. Its current history dates back to the mid-nineteenth century and is declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest. In the more than one thousand booths of the Real Fairground, located in the Los Remedios neighborhood, a unique atmosphere is lived day and night between lanterns, flamenco dresses, horse cars, sevillanas and typical gastronomy.

But the afternoons are for the Bullring of the ‘Real Maestranza de Caballería’ of Seville. The rows are filled to witness one of the most important bullfighting fairs in our country.

The Maestranza-Pagés company, manager of the Sevillian bullring, presents posters of the highest level every year, with the most important figures of the ranks and the young bullfighters with the greatest projection, in addition to the best fighting-bull ranches in the country
